Pre-Employment 1st Period Welding Program

CLAC Career Development College is pleased to offer our AIT Accredited 1st Period Pre-Employment Welding Program!


This course is designed specifically for people with little or no experience who are looking to jump-start a rewarding career as a welder. Our 12-week program will provide you with both the theory and the hands-on skills needed to be a 1st year welding apprentice.

Tuition: $4,895






Program Highlights

  • Candidates do not need to be registered apprentices.
  • Pre-employment or pre-apprentice training makes you more employable to contractors.
  • You will complete the program with all of the skills necessary to be a 1st year apprentice.
  • Both theory and practical exams are booked as part of the course. Successful students will be credited for their 1st year welding apprenticeship.


Job Readiness Certifications

CLAC Career Development College is committed to ensuring you have everything you need to walk onto the job site ready to work. We strive to prepare our students for success by providing you with the basic safety and welding certifications required to work onsite. Included in our program are the following certifications:

  • CWB FCAW All Positions Welding Certification
  • Standard First Aid CPR C-AED
  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09)
  • Pipeline Construction Safety Training (PCST)
  • And more

There is no additional cost to you for these certifications, which are valued at $2,500.


Funding Options

  • Alberta Student Aid Funding – Eligible applicants will be assessed for both loans and grants.
  • Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) – Parents can utilize existing plans to fund their child’s training.
  • Student Line of Credit – Eligible students can apply for a low-interest line of credit at their personal banking institution.
  • Self-Funded – We accept Visa, MasterCard, Interac, cash or money orders for those who prefer to self-fund their training
